special exhibition
assembled – state museum of natural history, karlsruhe
during my time at:
corporate design
exhibition design
the karlsruhe natural history museum’s archives hold several million objects.
versammelt brings some of them to light and places them in new contexts. blending research, collection and presentation, the result is an exhibition with the feel of a storage facility: raw, systematic, surprising.

the exhibition is divided (in addition to a prologue and epilogue) into five thematic sections:
legendary
well-preserved?
in series
baden-style
extreme
each section was assigned its own colour: clear coding. quick orientation. strong identity.
the visual system utilised a total of six colours, which were layered in graphics and the key visual. this created a ‘seek-and-find’ effect: multi-layered, scientific, almost archival. a visual metaphor for the diversity of natural history collections and fields of research.
